The Electrifying Truth about Energy Medicine
A common thread woven through the practice of holistic dentistry is energy medicine with much discussion revolving around meridians of the body, and most specifically how those meridians pass through the structures of the teeth. Understanding how this works requires some knowledge of energy medicine in general.
According to one of today’s most recognized authorities on the subject, Donna Eden “Energy medicine is safe, natural and accessible. It is both ancient and contemporary. The term is being used in many ways today, ranging from the introduction of shamanic healing practices in modern cultures to the use of powerful electromagnetic and imaging technologies in today’s hospitals. It is the art and science of fostering physical, psychological and spiritual health and well-being. Energy gives life to the body. Medicine is an agent that is used to heal or prevent disease. In energy medicine, energy is the medicine.”
More than 5,000 years ago the ancient Chinese began to discover an association between subtle energy in the body and a person’s well-being. Over centuries of practice they were able to determine that disturbances in the flow of this energy precede the manifestation of abnormal patterns of cellular organization and growth. Although invisible to the eye and practically imperceptible to all but the most sensitive modern technological devices, centuries ago the Chinese were able to track this subtle energy as it flows through the pathways of the human body and from that they created what we now refer to as the meridian chart.
Energy Gives Life to the Body
In holistic dentistry we understand that every organ and every part of the body is directly linked to a specific tooth or area of the mouth through the body’s meridians. This connection is so strong that a biological dentist can often accurately determine a person’s dental history simply by reviewing the physical symptoms and correlating the flow of energy as it moves though the meridians. Our interactive meridian tooth chart will help to illustration these connections.
Blocks or disturbances to the flow of energy can be created by traumatic dental procedures such as root canals, the use of metal fillings as well as can tooth decay and tooth, sinus or jaw infections. These events short-circuit the otherwise healthy energy as it naturally flows through the pathways between the affected tooth and the organs, eventually leading to the breakdown of healthy organ function. For instance, when a weakness already exists and a root canal is performed on the associated meridian, tooth disease in the organ can manifest immediately or over time, depending on the person’s overall immune health.
Improving Energy Flow Creates a Healthy Body
There is increasing evidence among the holistic medical community which reports the dramatic disappearance of systemic disease problems following dental treatment or the extraction of a tooth that has an otherwise negative impact on the meridian system. These cases provide evidence that chronic stimulation to a particular tooth can affect a related organ by impeding the flow of energy as it circulates throughout the body.
On the meridian tooth chart you can see that the upper first and second molars or the lower first and second bicuspids are related to the esophagus, stomach, spleen, mammary gland and maxillary sinus. In view of these connections, any dissimilar fillings or traumatic dental procedures may produce a chronic stimulation which in turn may change the electromagnetic energy and cause a variety of diseases to manifest in the related organs. As an example; on a quest for wellness a woman with a history of breast cancer visits a holistic dentist as part of her overall treatment routine. The dentist checks an upper left bicuspid (premolar) and finds out that the tooth has undergone a root canal, leaving behind a dead tooth. Because it is on the same meridian as the affected breast, the flow of energy has become obstructed. The tooth is extracted, the site is treated and the patient’s breast cancer goes into remission – an all too common scenario in our practice.
Our Goal with Energy Medicine
A holistic dentist’s goal is naturally always geared towards helping people improve their personal health and long term well-being. Our understanding of how life force energy moves through the human body via meridians in the teeth can have a very positive impact on the lives of our patients – and it is a science we continue to discover and understand on an ever expanding basis.
